Christian Counseling is a God Giving Gift
You may earn several degrees in Christian counseling but after your first few counseling sessions you will know if God has called you to this profession. If He isn’t in it, this will be obvious to those you are counseling. Showing God’s love cannot be taught in college and no amount of certificates or degrees will help. The Bible has many examples of great men anointed to counsel and lead others. It also demonstrates the results of those who seek counsel from the ungodly. In Leviticus Moses anoints Aaron and his sons.
Lev 8:1 - 4 The LORD said to Moses, “Take Aaron and his sons with him, and the garments, and the anointing oil, and the bull of the sin offering, and the two rams, and the basket of unleavened bread; and assemble all the congregation at the door of the tent of meeting.” And Moses did as the LORD commanded him; and the congregation was assembled at the door of the tent of meeting. This chapter goes on to describe in detail the whole ceremony required before these men could be considered as priests. In the same way a person desiring to serve in ministry today needs to be acknowledged as an ordained servant, anointed by the Lord, whatever area of ministry he may be serving in. Moses and his sons had earned their education in human behavior during the many years they traveled together after leaving Egypt. Likewise the Christian counselor today needs to earn his or her degree and be certified.
